Once again Australia’s major media outlets have been caught out sleeping. Thankfully though, the independent media is on the job reporting everything the main stream media (MSM) can’t be bothered doing, in other words, investigative journalism.

In a three part series, Independent Australia (IA), has a detailed analysis which, while not proving Craig Thomson is innocent, proves there is serious element of doubt about the whole story.

In part one of IA’s report, the tangled web of involvement between self-proclaimed Health Services Union (HSU) whistleblower, Fair Work Australia (FWA) Vice-President, Michael Lawler, and prime ministerial wannabe, Tony Abbott. Read the full article here: How Jackson, Lawler And Abbott Tangled Thomson with the HSU.

Part two of the series goes further into the relationship between Jackson and Lawler, Read the article here: The Jackson And Lawler HSU Tangle.

The third part covers the alleged evidence against Mr Thomson, including an  imprint of a credit card in the name of Craig Thompson. It also examines the interview of Jackson with Chris Uhlmann on 730 on May 21.  The interview is shown below.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks – Queen Gertrude in Hamlet,  Act III Scene II

From the transcript of the above interview:

CHRIS UHLMANN: Is there a conflict of interest here because your partner Michael Lawler is the vice President of Fair Work Australia?

KATHY JACKSON: No, not at all and I reject that claim totally. And Craig Thomson’s allegations are totally wicked against him. Michael Lawler is the Vice-President of Fair Work Australia, formerly the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.

As Craig Thomson knows – well knows, the regulator arm of Fair Work Australia has nothing to do with the tribunal and for him to try to link him in to that is totally wicked.

CHRIS UHLMANN: Are you concerned at all about perceptions of conflict of interest?

KATHY JACKSON: That’s what he’s trying to do. Craig Thomson is obviously trying to smear everybody to get himself out of the hole that he has dug himself into. My advice to Craig Thomson is to you know the more he says the worse he looks.

Et tu Kathy, et tu.

CHRIS UHLMANN: Has Michael Lawler ever been involved with you in any of the strategy meetings with the HSU about any of the actions that you have got going?

KATHY JACKSON: Well obviously as my partner I talk to Michael about what I’m doing and as my partner I talk to him about not just HSU issues but other issues as well.

CHRIS UHLMANN: Is it that appropriate?

KATHY JACKSON: I think it’s very appropriate as my partner that I ask him advice and assistance. But he is not running the case for the HSU. I tell him what I’m doing, not the other way around.

So Kathy, you think it’s appropriate for you to seek “advice and assistance” from someone who is the Vice-President of the organisation charged with investigating an organisation based on allegations that you made.

You might want to have a think about that, before you say anymore.

Naturally Uhlmann didn’t ask Jackson as to why Lawler was on “Long Leave” from the FWA.

Not Long Service Leave, not Annual Leave, not Sick Leave, not Bereavement Leave, not Paternity Leave, not Emergency Leave.

Long Leave.

As yet no-one from FWA has been able to explain exactly what “Long Leave” means.

One of the verses from the song above by ex Marillion front man, Fish is appropriate to illustrate the latest development in the Thomson affair:

The bleating of a bimbo
A backstabbing beauty queen
Titillating tabloids
Trigger off a wet dream
Into action
A fatal attraction
Private lives are up for auction.
A cupboard full of skeletons
Are coming out to play.

Channel Nine’s gutter TV show A Current Affair has supposedly found a prostitute who can confirm Craig Thomson’s identity as a former “client”.

The Derp is not alone in not believing this story or the storyteller herself. Neither has any zero credibility at all.

First, there’s the fact of someone who is paid money to “do stuff”, being paid $60,000 (reportedly) to spill the beans. If I was paid sixty grand, I’d claim I’d had sex with Mr Thomson as well.

Then of course there is the sheer implausibility of the story in the first place. We are expected to believe that this woman can remember someone she met once several years ago. Even if Mr Thomson was the only “customer” she’d ever had, the story stretches credulity. If the interview is ever shown (and there is no reason to believe it will), one can only hope the interviewer asks the “working girl” if the person she “served” had any distinguishing features? Any tattoos? Was he circumcised? Three testicles? One testicle? A forked penis?

Perhaps the interview will look something like this:

What A Prostitute by George Bludger

What A Prostitute by George Bludger

What A Prostitute

Another of the allegations is that two phone calls were made to escort services from Mr Thomson’s phone. Space Kidette pointed out on Poll Bludger yesterday how it’s possible to “fake” phone calls from anyone’s phone. Here’s how:

  • 1. Swap out sim card of target phone into another phone. Target has his phone and is none the wiser that it is not his sim card he is using when making calls.
  • 2. Take target sim card and put in another phone. Call forward all calls to the new sim phone no. so he is still receiving all his normal calls.
  • 3. Make call with second phone with target sim to brothel.

So there you have it. Easy peasy. You don’t need any Spooks-like high tech wizardry. You don’t even need to be employed by any of Newscorp’s UK tabloids. Anyone can do it.

Of course these bleeding obvious discrepancies in the “official story” have gone completely over the heads of the MSM, and they continue with their witch hunt against Mr Thomson.

As mentioned above, none of these discrepancies is proof positive that Mr Thomson is innocent, however it does cast a serious element of doubt over the allegations. For as long as these elements of doubt exist, Mr Thomson cannot be convicted of anything.

What would be more helpful than the MSM continually hounding Mr Thomson would be if they bothered to find out exactly why Kathy Jackson’s partner, Michael Lawler is on “long leave” from the FWA.

The Derp believes that that would shed a lot more light on the story than their current witch hunt will achieve.

  1. I must remember that trick with the SIM card! My teenage grandsons had told me how easy it is to fake someone’s phone record.

For me the telling feature of this has been Craig Thomson’s consistency, his calmness and his refusal to budge under almost inhuman pressure. A clear conscience if ever there was one.

Kathy Jackson on the other hand shifts ground all the time in her numerous interviews. Her story differs from that of her own team. There are numerous inconsistencies in her statements as so-called whistleblower about corruption in her union, the only constant being her denigration of Craig Thomson – no mention at all of the HSU officers who have now actually been charged with offences.

  2. Good post, but the contribution by George Bludger is quite disturbing.
