Abbott And Abetz Announce Workers Paradise

In a joint press conference yesterday, Tony Abbott and Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations, Eric Abetz outlined their long awaited plan to turn Australia into a workers paradise. But is it as worker friendly as they would have you believe? Sally McManus of the ASU has done an analysis of the proposed changes, and is less than happy with them. Things must be getting very desperate at LNP headquarters. Every attempt to try and nullify the negative image most Australians have of Tony Abbott have ended in failure. Margie and the kids didn’t work. The Peta Credlin gambit didn’t work. In what must be the final attempt to remove Abbott’s negative image, this weekend he kicked off his “Good Vibrations Tour” to try and woo the punters. No sooner had he kicked off his tour though, revelations about South Australian Senator Cory Bernardi’s associations have derailed it, and look like turning it into The Tour De Farce. Peta Credlin And The Streisand Effect

The Streisand Effect has been discussed a couple of times on this blog.  It refers to the effect that trying to cover something up or suppressing it, has the opposite effect of drawing attention to it. The last time it was covered was when Margie Abbott was given blanket coverage in News Limited‘s fish-wrappers to try and convince women voters that her husband, the lying, hypocritical, cowardly Tony Abbott isn’t a misogynistic relic from the distant past (See Margie Abbott And The Streisand Effect). Sophie Mirabella Shows Her Humanity

On the ABC’s QandA program aired on July 2 2012, the repulsive member for Indi showed just how much humanity she has. Early into the show panel member Simon Sheikh of lobbyist group GetUp fainted, the vile Sophie Mirabella was seen by a national TV audience to first look at Mr Sheikh with a look of absolute disgust, and then to push him away from her. Following Craig Thomson’s historic speech in the House Of Representatives, Leader of the house, Anthony Albanese uncovered another member of Parliament with a cloud over them. The Member for Hughes, Craig Kelly neglected to update the register of MP’s interests after the August 2010 election. Kelly was a director of several companies associated with Sydney furniture importer DV Kelly, a company founded by his parents. ASIC records confirm that Kelly did not officially resign from these positions until March 2011. Tony Abbott has made much ado lately about tainted votes in Parliament. Let’s examine just how many tainted votes each side actually has. By The Derp’s reckoning there are a total of 8 tainted votes between the House Of Representatives and The Senate. First cab off the rank (pun intended) is of course The Speaker of The House Of Representatives, Peter Slipper. The internet has caught Kelly O’Dwyer out being liberal ( ) with the truth. She joins a growing list of LNP MP’s who’ve been caught out deliberately misleading the Australian public. On Friday, O’Dwyer tweeted a picture of herself, fellow LNP mouthpiece Erica Betz and a small business owner who was allegedly shutting his antique shop because of the current government’s policies.
