One that realises that you have to invest today to generate revenue in the future? Or do you want an alternative where services are cut to the bone, or even abandoned totally, in pursuit of a short term profit (surplus)? Splashed across the front page of The Daily Terrorgraph, Rupert Murdoch’s low brow Sydney tabloid is the following headline: Exclusive: School excursions hit by Swan budget cuts Taking The Lunch Money The story is written by Steve Lewis, the “journalist” responsible for the “Utegate” fabrication, and up to his eyeballs in the Slippergate scandal as well. With a pedigree like that, i guess we shouldn’t expect too much from him. It claims: CHILDREN visiting federal parliament will be deprived of free bottled water and fruit treats as Treasurer Wayne Swan plays Grinch to school groups. In the latest budget crackdown even teachers who shepherd the kids through the building will no longer get tea and coffee — all for a saving of $235,000 a year.

The Derp has already outlined why appointing Peter Costello to the board of the Future Fund was a mistake (Two Of Kevin Rudd’s Biggest Mistakes). Let’s now take a look at some reasons why he should now be removed from the board altogether, either voluntarily or by being told to go. First off he is incompetent at making investment decisions. Back in the days when gold was trading at $325 an ounce, Costello sold our gold reserves off, claiming it’s days as a commodity were over. Gold is now trading at over five times that amount. According to Newspoll data (courtesy of Ghost Who Votes – @GhostWhoVotes on Twitter), more than half of voters don’t like the LNP as managers of every issue important to them.
